Google Talk is the best Gmail Checker

I’m a fan of Google Talk for tracking Gmail emails: http://www.google.com/talk/.

I have a gmail address and tried many different kinds of email notifiers. Some worked some didn’t. Some came as gmail addons and some are available via Yahoo Widgets. For various reasons I wasn’t really happy with any of them.

I installed Google Talk and love it. Google Talk tracks all your Gmail emails. After it is installed Google Talk puts an icon on the right side of the taskbar over by the clock. It is always there. When email is in your box, a red “M” will appear as the icon and hovering over the icon will tell you how many emails you have. If you want more detail you simply right click on the icon and you can choose “Check Mail Now” which will show you the first line of each email in sequence at which time you can click on an individual email to view the whole email. The other option when you right-click is to go directly to your inbox.

Give it a try. I’m not really interested in the talk feature because I use Gmail “Call Phone” feature to make all my phone calls. That’s a topic for another day.
